3850 Update

The overhaul is coming on – the boiler is de-tubed, out of the frames and being needle-gunned ready for Non Destructive Testing to establish the extent of work required to get it back to work. The 2874 Trust

We advised at the 2014 AGM that we were supporting the formation of a charitable Trust to aid in the restoration of GWR 2-8-0 Heavy Freight  No. 2874.   The Trust is up and running and has received “charitable status” from HM Revenue and Customs – this means it can obtain Gift Aid on appropriate donations

The Story begins….

3850 had its last day in service on 30th September 2015 before beginning a heavy overhaul.  The loco has run for 1202 days in traffic and covered 81,988 miles since entering service in March 2006  – all but 46 days of the service were on the West Somerset Railway, the other days being a visit

Shareholders Trip 2014

On Saturday 19th April around 160 of our shareholders, contractors and friends of the company enjoyed an evening trip behind 7820 leaving Toddington at 7.00pm for a round trip to Cheltenham, back through Winchcombe, over the viaduct to Laverton and finish at 9.30 back at Toddington.  A buffet, celebration cake and drinks were enjoyed by all
