We have just received these photographs of one of the two new castings for 3850 – this is fresh out of the mould and, in the words of the director of the foundry “The casting is currently knocked out awaiting shot blast to remove the coating and residual sand left on the part. Fettling follows to remove any runner system stubs and joint flash.”

It does look a bit rough but will no doubt look better after the sand blasting – then will come the machining – we look forward to more photos of the process.
The second cylinder will follow soon.
