We advised at the 2014 AGM that we were supporting the formation of a charitable Trust to aid in the restoration of GWR 2-8-0 Heavy Freight  No. 2874.

 

The Trust is up and running and has received “charitable status” from HM Revenue and Customs – this means it can obtain Gift Aid on appropriate donations and  applicable membership income worth over 25% in most instances.

 

The Trust is going to seek external funding to assist in the restoration – one of the criteria that “fund granters” look for is the amount of public support any project has obtained – a simple way of demonstrating a level of support is from the number of members an organisation has.  Membership of the Trust is now open and we would like to encourage as many people as possible to join – membership has been set at £20 per year for adults (£80 for 5 years).
